Oh, God. I was working on another artwork when I got distracted by a couple of BL dramas starring Cloud and Sephiroth's voice actors (read how much I freaked out over here ). I've always been into Sephiroth/Cloud, but I never really thought about making an artwork involving them.

So, yay, I finally made an S/C fanart! I would've been perfectly satisfied with this if I didn't do a crappy job on the lifestream effects.

But let's just forget about the lifestream. Initially, I made this thinking about that scene from the game where Cloud gave the Black Materia to (Sleeping) Sephiroth. I had wanted to show what could've happened when Sephiroth finally opened his eyes and first saw Cloud. I could imagine Sephiroth grabbing Cloud, pulling him close, and whispering, "Ahh, my puppet, you're such a good boy...." But along the way, it suddenly dawned on me that their pose called for something a lot more romantic and tragic.

I immediately remembered how Cloud finally defeated Sephiroth, and how Sephiroth -- wearing only his leather pants -- blood dripping all over his face, finally faded into the lifestream. I thought, "Did Sephiroth immediately die or.....?"

The romantic in me would like to believe that the real Sephiroth (the pre-insane, pre-Jenova influenced one) finally took control of his body when Cloud defeated him. I'm a HUGE sucker for tragic endings, so I thought about the possibility that Sephiroth said his last farewell to a tearful Cloud, gave him a final kiss, and faded away. Yes, it's sappy and ridiculously romantic, but I think this pairing wouldn't be an OTP if they didn't have their own sappy moments. Right?

Some minor notes:

-- I can't remember the details, but does Cloud have earrings on both ears? If he only has one (most likely on his left ear), then apologies for the inconsistency. ;^^

-- I like Cloud's AC costume more and I would've loved to incorporate it here, but since this is taken from the game I had no choice but to work on his game version (I tamed his hair though )

-- Aside from the lifestream, I had some difficulty doing the right effects for dripping blood. But at least the blood is looking better than the lifestream. ;^_^
