SCHOOL MAGAZINE PUBLISHING.

[edit]

:star: Animanga Fans blog post. :star:

[/edit]

:star: This is actually a call for entries. :star:

I've just had a meeting with the animanga magazine organization of my academy. I was assigned to the Features: Manga section, so now I have to help collect pages of manga for the upcoming issue.

I was told I could submit international works to the editors, so if you're interested / know anyone who might be interested in submitting either a (1) colored illustration (for the cover. It will come down to a votation among the staffers) or a (2) oneshot / serial manga that you've worked on before (no explicit scenes please : (). The deadline for submissions is November 9.

First off, this is a school organization, so there won't be any monetary compensation -- just publicity, among the animanga-goers in the Lvl 1 art academy in China anyway. ; ) If its a manga, it will obviously be translated into a Chinese version. If your work is chosen, you'll most certainly be credited, and I'll make sure to send you a copy or two of the issue in which it is published.

If you're interested, by all means, PM me! Again, the deadline is November 9, 2008. Send away~! :star:v:star:

:next: Regarding College... :prev:

Okay. I never thought I'd say this, but just in the one month that I've stayed here in Hangzhou, I've learned A LOT, inside and outside of school. Before, an Uncle of mine who was a fine artist looked at my manga work and told me that I had to learn fine arts, or I would be stuck at my level forever. Of course, I didn't believe him at that time since I was practically drowning in manga projects, but, now I know what he means. Oh my god, I dooo.

Fine arts lessons do help A LOT, and to think that I wouldn't have delved into it under any circumstance other than the one I'm in right now. Before, I was rather complacent with my inking and anatomy, but after drawing real people for a while, I've learned not to draw just what you see the surface -- you have to know the bone and muscle structure to bring your drawing to life. o___o

As for coloring, I've always been fairly proud of my colored works, but now, I cringe inside knowing could have done much, much better on each and every piece had I known what I know now -- which is not much, yet -- about lighting, contrast, and color theory. There's absolutely no order in my coloring.

Right now, I angst once in a while because everytime I realize something new about fine arts, I keep wanting to apply it to my manga style. But, the fact is I'm still probably very far from mastering fine arts to effectively apply its rules to my own manga style that took me years to mold. ^___^;

Anyway, if you're interested to see what I've been busy doing these days, I've set up a photo journal over here. And here are my studies.

That's all for now, hope everyone's doing okay! Logan, I haven't forgotten about your commishes, wait for me plz! >A</

Waaah, Lemon! I went back to HK two more times after we met at Tanggwan, but I didn't call you anymore, because I know you're very busy!

Actually, Chinese-style under my hand can be very 'fake'! XD Now that I'm here in China, I feel that I hardly know enough about the culture to make authentic Chinese-style. At best, the feeling my drawings give off is like that of Japanese-made pseudo-Chinese anime like Fushigi Yuugi and Saiunkoku... TTvTT But anyway, let's improve together!

About my stay in China -- I just passed my scholarship screening! Under the care of the Chinese embassy, I will be studying in Hangzhou Zhongguo Meishu Xueyuan for the next five years.

Gosh, I wish I could drop by for the Comic World this August, but I don't think I have time anymore... TTxTT Classes begin in September 1, so I still have to move all my stuff from Xiamen all the way to the north!

Anyway... GOOD LUCK AT CW!!! <3 <3 <3 *hugs* I'm rooting for you!
